Alice Bell is the ex-wife of iconic weatherman, journalist, TV personality, and author Al Roker. 

They got married in 1984 but filed for a divorce after being married for eight years in 1992. 

They got divorced officially in 1994. The two adopted a child when they were married.

Is Al Rocker Married Now?

After parting ways with his first wife, Alice, Al met Deborah Roberts and started dating her. 

His wife is a journalist for the ABC news division. They tied the knot in 1995.

They two have been together for more than two decades. They are blessed with two children.

Al Was Hospitalized Because Of Some Health Issues

Al has been struggling with health problems for a very long time. He was diagnosed with prostate cancer in 2002. 

Recently, Al was missing from the Today show. 

Al revealed that he was in hospital after he got a blood clot on his left leg, which resulted in more clots in his lungs. 

Later, she shared that he was recovering after getting proper medical care. He thanked everyone for their support and prayers. 

How Did Al Get His First Date With His Wife Deborah?

Deborah was working as a correspondent on NBC when AL met her for the first time. 

Al said that when he saw her on the monitor for the first time, he was ultimately head over heels as he found her attractive. 

But Deborah's friend-zoned her. They were friends for about two years. 

Finally, Al decided to make a move, and one day, when he was sitting in her apartment, he found that she had never used her kitchen, so he restocked everything in her kitchen and left a bouquet for her. 

After that, he got his first date with her.

Al Released His First Book In 2000

Al is not just a journalist. He is also an author.

He released his first book, Don't Make Me Stop This Car; Adventure in Fatherhood, which had a collection of short stories that reflected his fatherhood journey in 2000 and gave a glimpse of his personal life to his fans. 

He has written some cookbooks and several non-fiction books. 

Al said he always wanted to write about murder mysteries, so in 2009, he released his first fiction novel, The Morning Show Murders.

His book series was made into a mini-series on the Hallmark channel.

Al Struggled With His Weight

Al shared that eating was his escape from a bad day. Because of that, he gained a lot of weight. 

By 2002, his weight was around 340 pounds. 

His father was hospitalized at that time, and a week before his father passed away, he promised his father that he would lose weight. 

He had gone through a gastric bypass surgery and lost around 150 pounds. But in 2008, he lost his mother, and he again gained weight. 

After that, he consulted nutrition and  began losing weight.
