Alice Soyer is famous as the wife of musician David Sanborn. David sadly passed away on May 12, 2024. He was 78 years old.

David was practicing saxophone, and Alice decided to take a look from the window. 

Alice did not see David but she did hear the music coming out from the instrument. She was already impressed.

They met during the dinner then and talked a bit. She has described the meeting as very natural. 

David encouraged Alice. He also looked at her writing and was impressed. He told her to keep going and described her work as great during the meet-up.

Dating and marriage

The couple wanted to know each other before falling in love. They officially started dating in 2020.

They dated for four years before getting married. They tied the knot in 2020.

It was during the COVID period. They stayed together and spent the quarantine time together.

Alice was madly in love with her husband and wouldn’t shy away from flaunting their love on her social media. 

On July 31, 2021, she took to Instagram to wish her husband a happy birthday. She uploaded a picture of her beloved with a caption,

On June 22, 2022, she posted a picture of them enjoying their vacation in Paris on Instagram with the caption,

She also posted a picture with her husband on her Instagram to wish everyone a New Year.

How many children do the couple have?

Alice and David have a son named Jonathan Sanborn. He has also followed the footsteps of his father and is a musician. 

He is a bass player and has worked on several albums to date.

Cause of Death

David passed away, and the main cause of death was prostate cancer. 

David was diagnosed with prostate cancer in 2018 and lost his battle against it on 2024 May 12.

David's family announced the tragic death of David through an Instagram post. They wrote.

It is with sad and heavy hearts that we convey to you the loss of internationally renowned, six-time Grammy award-winning saxophonist David Sanborn. Mr. Sanborn passed Sunday afternoon, May 12th, after an extended battle with prostate cancer with complications…

They revealed that he had managed to maintain his normal schedule of concerts despite such a dreadful disease. He even had a concert scheduled for 2025

Gerald Albright, a fellow musician, commented on the post by saying it was a true blessing to have known David, and he will be greatly missed as a dynamic icon and friend, and through his music. 

He also wrote rest well, my dear friend. 

Nile Rodgers, a musician, composer, guitarist and record producer, commented RIP my friend, and he loved working with David.

Candy Dulfer, a Dutch jazz and pop saxophonist, commented in the post saying, Omg my hero! Nobody like him, I am so sorry for your loss. 

Many other artists also gave their condolences, like Vinnie Colaiuta, Nathan East, Will Lee, and others.
