Schelske was an aspiring musician. He and his brother formed a country music band in 1989 and left for Nashville in 1999.

In the court documents, she accused him of unemployment, alcoholism, infidelity, watching pornography in front of their kids, maintaining sexually explicit photographs of himself and others, and verbal abuse, which Schelske denied.
In his defense, he said he and Evans were watching adult entertainment together when their eldest child, whom they believed to be asleep, accidentally entered their room, and they immediately turned off.
And of the explicit photograph collection, he claimed the collection was limited to images of married couples.

Evans also accused him of having an affair with their children’s nanny, Alison Clinton, who worked for Schelske and Evans’s children for five years.
Back in October 2006, Clinton told ABC News that she was taken aback by Evans’s allegations and also revealed Evans suffered from an exhaustion break-down.
Clinton said Evans had a hard time and they had started a Bible study together and that Evans was trying to get back in gear and get more focused and grounded.
Clinton later sued Evans for $3 million, claiming that Evans slandered her name by accusing her of having an affair with Schelske.
