During an interview with Sporting TV, Hjulmand talked about his childhood and his football journey.
Hjulmand said he had an incredible childhood growing up with his calm parents and brothers in Kastrup, Denmark where they spent most of their time playing football but at the same time, education was also important.
His parents asked him to prioritize education then only he could go for training.
Hjulmand's love for football was passed on by his brother and his father who was a coach.
He started at Tarnby when he was 3 and a half years old.
According to Hjulmand, his brother was a very good player and a great talent, and although he is not a professional, he was a good player in his league.
Hjulmand made it through the ranks of Copenhagen and moved to Austria in May 2018 where he played for Admira Wacker.
He then played for Leece and was given the responsibility of a captain. He said he was surprised when they chose him as the captain.
It was a big responsibility so it wasn't easy and it ended up being a new challenge for him.
He joined Sporting CP in August 2023.
Talking about adapting to a new culture, he said he tries to adapt to a new culture and the language which he thinks is very important.
He is now trying his best to learn Portuguese. He can speak Danish, English, and Italian. He also knew Germany when he was in Austria.
Hjulmand aspires to do well at the Sporting. He believes he needs to show it through his performance at Sporting in order to make the national team.
"I hope to be part of the team's eleven in the future and of course, be at the European Championship", he said.
He scored his first international goal for Denmark at Euro 2024 on the 20th of June, 2024. He equalized in the 34' to make it 1-1 against England.
