Charlie died at a San Antonio hospital after cardiac arrest and other health complications.

He was a judge on USA Network reality singing show, Nashville Star, for one year. He retired from stage and studio as a singer in 2018.

Charlie was married to a founding member of the country band called The Chicks. 

They married at a Cibolo Creek ranch in Texas in front of their close ones in 1999. 

They share three kids. They got separated after being married for nine years. 

Despite their separation, they are on good terms and have joint custody of the kids.
