Laurence was married to a former footballer, Jean-Francois Hernandez. The couple shares two sons, Lucas and Theo who are 15 months apart.
Both Lucas and Theo ended up following in their father's footsteps. Jean-Francois was still playing football after the birth of their sons.
He played for several clubs including Marseille, Sochaux, Atletico Madrid, and Rayo Vallecano before his retirement in 2002 at the age of 33.
But one day, Jean-Francois left the family without a trace leaving Laurence to become a single mother to their young children.
He abandoned the family for another woman, Spanish TV star, Sonia Moldes.

Lucas was five years old when his father left him, his mother, and his brother Theo.
While reflecting on childhood days in 2019, Lucas in an interview confessed to not seeing his dad over 16 years.
He said that growing up without a father wasn't easy but at the same time they were better off without him because their father never loved them.
When he was younger, he used to think about his father but as time passed it slowly faded away.
"It finally became clear to me that he left because he did not love us. And if he did not love us, then it was better that he left", he said.
He also said that after his parents split, they soon became a sworn trio. They never understood why he left them.
They grew up with their mother who provided them with everything so that they didn't miss anything.
Describing their childhood as complicated but beautiful, he added his mother has been very successful in fulfilling both his father's and mother's roles, and since both of them have become professional footballers, she can now sit and enjoy her life a bit.

Both of her sons, Lucas and Theo have achieved much success in their football careers and she is the reason behind it.
In an interview with Le Parisien back in 2018, Laurence said when she was separated from their father, she wanted her sons to play sports too so she registered them to the club which was next to her gym.
It wasn't easy for her to do it alone. She worked as a beautician and worked from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. to ensure they were in the best condition.
Laurence was beaming with pride when Lucas was called up for the first time in 2018.

Back in 2022, when the French newspaper L'Equipe tried to follow the trace of Jean-Francois, they were able to contact one of his cousins Bruno Saliba who claimed that his cousin never abandoned his children but it was Laurence who prevented him from seeing his sons.
His ex-partner Sonia Moldes also revealed that he tried to take custody of their children. They tried to fight with lawyers but it was hell.
In desperation, he went to Thailand and tried calling them several times but Laurence never passed the children on to him and he gave up, she said.
Besides that, Lucas's and Theo's half-sister Lauris Hernandez also claimed that her father had been defamed for so long.
