Her son was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes
Her son, Nacho, was only 12 when he was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes.
Nacho revealed in an interview that it was a tough time for him as he had been on Real Madrid's book for two years and when he was supposed to go a a tournament with the club, he had to go to the hospital.
He not only missed the tournament but his doctor told him his football days were over.
He then went to see an endocrinologist, Dr. Ramirez, who became his regular endocrinologist and told him the exact opposite.
The doctor told him his football career was not over but it was essential for him to continue playing because physical exercise is very important.
Even when he is not playing football, he likes to cycle around the mountains, duathlons, triathlons, and many more.
He doesn't let diabetes prevent him from doing anything. There are certain food types he needs to be careful of, otherwise, he eats everything.
His diabetes is under control which is all thanks to his doctor. He said diabetes makes a person more responsible and you look after yourself a little more.
He is aware that diabetes is going to be there for the rest of his wife unless they find a cure. Until then, diabetes is his teammate by his side.
