Leigh-Anne, while talking about her childhood during an interview with Teen Vogue, said that growing up with mixed-race parents, she and her sisters never saw race as a limitation on what they wanted to achieve.

They never let them think that anything was holding them back. One thing they were doing was sleeping on racism.

Too often, Black people are reminded of how far we have come as opposed to how far we can go. In doing this, we sleep on racism, she added.

Both of their parents were incredibly supportive of their ambitions.

Sian-Louise talks about teaching her kids about their race

Leigh-Anne has been outspoken about the racism she has faced in the industry.

In her 2021 documentary, Race, Power, & Power, how racism hit her hard when she started experiencing it.

She recalled the moment when American choreographer Frank Gatson Jr. told her on the set one day that she was going to have to work ten times harder because of her race, though she didn’t understand what he meant at the time until she started experiencing being treated differently.

Leigh-Anne began questioning herself about what was happening, why she was fading and not getting the equal reception as other girls, and why no one could help her.

It was not until her tour in Brazil that they performed to a predominantly black crowd.

She was overwhelmed with people chanting her name, which she hadn’t felt before.

It was the realization she needed to fully understand what was happening, she said.

Leigh-Anne sat with her family members, including Sian-Louise, to talk about race and asked about the right age to teach their kids about their race.

According to Sian-Louise, she finds it to be a very sensitive subject, and she doesn’t want her children to grow up and constantly have their lives determined by colors.

She doesn’t want them to see color, but that doesn’t mean she doesn’t want them to learn because they need to learn about their race, their roots, and their culture.

She said she is more concerned about her daughter Faith because she doesn’t want her to every time she steps that door, feeling that something is going to happen to her because of her color.

Leigh-Anne talked about her Jamaican wedding while appearing in a heart podcast.

She said everyone arrived in Jamaica for about a week to be part of their big day. She added

“Jamaica is quite a laid-back place, so I ran out about an hour late. It was super unorganized, but I was like, it’s fine, but yeah, no it was just the perfect day, and my feet haven’t touched the ground, to be honest.”

She also revealed that former Factor star Jahmene Douglas as she walked down the aisle.
