At the same time, he was offered the job as a coach for Belgium national team, and he couldn’t deny it.

As he was young for the national coach, he first felt a bit confused, but later, he felt he could do it and take responsibility for the national team

He was also happy to be the coach of the national team, as the team was stronger and full of brilliant players.

Roberto is used to the intense environment

Coming from the League matches like Premier League, Roberto had coached in quite intense environment.

The back-to-back matches, interaction with the players and staff in a regular way, and getting to work in a busy and packed schedule had already shaped the Belgium coach

But he expressed that coaching the national team was completely different.

There are no back-to-back matches, and interaction with the players on daily basis is rare.

He had to work with players staying far away from them. The environment was calm and peaceful.

But despite all the changes, the intensity of interest that people put into the national team pressurizes the team, according to Roberto.

He said that it was a big responsibility that he took over.

Roberto set the target higher

Roberto was managing Everton FC back in 2013.

He knew that Everton FC had a great history with football and once was one of the best teams in the world, bringing up many legendary players into existence.

But when Roberto arrived at the club, the club was running in a low position. They were doing well, but it was not enough.

The team was good, and so was their playing style, so Roberto had the option to keep up with what the team had been doing and maintaining the same position.

Or, he had to set the target higher and repeat the history of the club.

Hence he chose the second option. He knew that if he trained hard, his team could make it to the top.

Roberto spoke about Cristiano Ronaldo

Belgium was going up against Portugal, and the pre-interview about the match was taken with the Belgium coach Roberto.

Roberto expressed that Portugal has a player that can utilize the right moment to score and destroy the match, and that is Cristiano Ronaldo.

So, his team was sure to act against Ronaldo. But it didn’t mean that they were not going to focus on other players.

Roberto believed that focusing on a single player was not going to do anything because there were threats from other players too.

So while going against Portugal, Roberto said that defense was a key play.
