Christian was happily married to his wife Annie-Sophie Helger, and with her, he produced three kids.
Among their three kids, Pierre-Emile is the second born. He was born in Copenhagen and raised in the Osterbro district of the city.

Christian sadly passed away in April 2014. He was battling stomach cancer.
During an interview, Pierre-Emile recalled being extremely sad, frustrated, and at the same time angry for not being able to be with him.
After being diagnosed with cancer, he moved to Germany to be with his son, who at the time was playing for Bayern Munich after making his professional debut in April 2013.
Pierre-Emile also expressed his gratitude for helping him deal with the situation.
"My father came to Munich over six times of around ten days, where he got his chemotherapy," he said.
His son gave his heart and soul to looking after him during his cancer battle
Christian's cancer diagnosis came a year after his son left the house.
During an interview with BBC Sport, Pierre-Emile recalled how he took over caring for his ill father.
He said when his father arrived in Munich, he could show him that he knew how to take care of himself and he could take care of him too, and that he was becoming a man.
"My father would always take care of me, then suddenly I had to take care of him. I was cooking for him, I was putting him in bed, making sure he got his medication, and all of these things. This thing scar you a bit", he added.
He also said that they had some great talks and difficult talks that he will forever cherish, but some hurt because he would love to see his father with him today, and the only thing that was hard for him was always trying to be strong without making a sad face.
"I never had a sad face in front of him and I paid for that in my life because I held so much back", he said.
He and his son had a shared dream of playing for the national team
Christian and his son both had a shared dream of playing for the national team. The hospital where he was being treated was just next door to Parken.
Pierre-Emile says his father told him that he now just needed to play for the national team while looking out the window at the stadium.
Unfortunately, he couldn't see his son achieving that dream. He passed away a month before his son's national team debut.
Pierre-Emile said he believes his father is with him every single day, but for him, not being able to watch him play for the national team hurts him a lot.
When he scored his first goal for Denmark, he found it tough to enjoy the victory because he was missing his father he wished to see it.
Pierre-Emile is the father of two
Pierre-Emile is the proud father of two kids, a son and a daughter, whom he shares with his partner Josephine Siw Nielsen.
According to him, after the demise of his father, he played in the cup final and made a national team debut.
He was finishing on a high from a sports perspective but finishing on a low from a life perspective but when he had his first daughter, his perspective on life changed.
Until the birth of his daughter, he was finding it difficult to motivate himself.
That feeling of missing out sort of changed when his kids arrived, and now he uses that love and does it for them.
