While talking about childhood upbringing in Croatia with UEFA.com, Josko said he grew up alongside his two sisters in a small apartment and spent most of his time playing on the football pitch.
According to him, he was into sports from the very beginning, whether football, basketball, or handball, so if he weren't a footballer, he would probably gotten into basketball or handball.
Josko also expressed his gratitude to his incredibly supportive parents, who have supported him throughout.
He was spotted by Lokomotiva and Zagreb when his father took him to Tresnjevka.

Her son almost quit football to sell fish
Her son is today one of the world's top defenders but he was on the verge of quitting his career because of frustration of not leading up to the mark in the early years of his career.
During an interview with the Times, Josko said he was 16 or 17 and still on the bench of the youth teams.
He was frustrated and, at one moment, was thinking of leaving football. He was considering selling fish in Zagreb although he didn't like the family business.
"By the way, I hate fish. Imagine being 16 years old and there's only fish to eat every day at home. I want to try something else", he told the Times.
But things started to change eventually.
According to Zosko, he started to play afterward, and they finally saw him, his quality, and in one year, he moved to Dinamo Zagreb's second team, and in six months, he was in the first team.
A heart-warming moment with her son
Back in 2022, when Croatia was competing against Belgium in the knockout stage, Josko made a historic moment.
His last-ditch tackle to thwart Romelu Lukaku helped Croatia seal the knockout stage.
Soon after the victory, Josko went running to his mom who was watching the game from the stands, and hugged her while tears rolled down from his eyes.
The head coach, Zlatko Dalic, also described the moment as the "true image" of his team.
"When I saw this photo, it warmed my heart," Dalic said during the press conference.
He also expressed that he wanted to congratulate his mother for raising such a son.
“Such a man who is a top footballer and at the same time a modest man is the result of upbringing and faith,” he added.
Croatia stood at third place in the World Cup 2022.
Her son has two nicknames
Josko has two nicknames and they are "The Croatian Wall" and "Little Pep."
The first nickname was given because of his craziest defending technique in repelling dangerous attacks.
His second nickname was given due to the similarity between his surname and that of manager Pep Guardiola.
